This year 4 million 400 thousand tons of Potato has been produced in Iran.
(IANA) – “It’s predicted that 4 million tons of Onions and five million ton of Tomato will be harvested from farmlands of the country,” said Mohammad Mehdi Bahreini, Director-General of the Headquarters of Vegetables and Truck farming of the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad Organization.
He announced that the under cultivation area of vegetables and summer production of Iran are One million hectares (6.6 percent of the under cultivation area of the farming products).
“Each year 100 million tons of farming commodities are produced in Iran that accounts for 30 percent of the country’s farming productions,” added the Director-General of the Headquarters of Vegetables and Truck farming of the Agricultural Jihad Organization.
“Some of these commodities include Cabbage, Lettuce, Watermelon, Melon, Cantaloupe that are being exported to the surrounding countries of the Persian Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan,” continued Bahreini, referring to the autarky of Iran in the production of vegetables and summer products.\
